🏀 Newly drafted Koby Brea and St. John's Guard Ian Jackson stopped by!
Some notable Dyckman alumni paid us a visit this weekend!

Welcome to the second installment of The Dyckman Dispatch! Over the years Dyckman has earned the nickname “The Red Carpet of Street Ball” because of the influx of celebrities and athletes who attend the tournament 📸 ⭐️
And that doesn’t just happen on the week days, as this past Saturday we saw hometown kid and Dyckman Basketball alum Koby Brea, who was just selected #41 overall in the NBA draft 👏 stop by and pay us a visit before heading to Phoenix for Summer League camp. Also in attendance was future NBA lottery pick St. John’s Guard Ian Jackson. As you can imagine the kids were ELATED to see them and take pictures 🤩
Although the forecast was looking shaky all week and it rained in the AM, we managed to have all TEN of our scheduled games on Saturday (my back low key still hurts from brushing and blow drying the court 😩) We hosted Six 14u games and four 16u games. Let’s break it down: 👇️
🏀 14U Recaps
LPAC defeated Team Dyckman, 42-34. In a rivalry almost two decades long, this game set the tone for the day. After LPAC jumped out to an early lead, Dyckman battled back and made this one a game. They just didn’t have an answer for big man Jonathan Ssenyonjo (St. Mary’s) down the stretch. He finished with a game-high 12 points for LPAC.
Faith & Hope defeated Yonkers Bulls, 33-30. After a rough showing in Week 1, Yonkers Bulls bounced back and gave last year’s runner ups a run for their money in this playoff rematch. Led by William Paige (Staten Island Academy) and Danny Torres, 11 and 10 points respectively, Faith and Hope got a stop on the final possession to earn the victory.
Top Boy Elite defeated Wiz Kids, 41-38. With Wiz Kids alum Ian Jackson aka Captain Jack in attendance for this one, Top Boy Elite continued to prove they are a serious contender in the division. Led by Cameron Gray (Stony Brook School) 17 points (14 in the first half, 3 threes), and Carter Abrahams (Lawrence Woodmere Academy) 9 points (7 in the second half) Top Boy Elite earned a narrow victory.
Rens United defeated CDA, 39-33. We saw the defending champs CDA, formerly Kips Bay for the first time this summer. This was a scrappy “earn it” type of game, with Rens United making the key plays down the stretch. Javion Chappel (Student Athlete Academy) led the way with a game-high 11 points.
Courtcred defeated We Got Next NJ, 49-20. After both going 0-1 to start the season, someone was getting in the win column and Courtcred did so in convincing fashion led by Mandell Walters (St. Marks) who scored a game-high 22 points.
One Promise defeated NYC Wizards, 55-21. One Promise went 2-0 on the early season led by the big three of Mason Marte (Promise Academy) 14 points, Douda Dibassy (Promise Academy) 12 points. Mohamed Magassouba (Promise Academy) 11 points.
🏀 16U Recaps
Uptown Elite defeated Jungle Athletics, 52-25. Uptown Elite came out of the gate firing, amassing a 20-point lead by halftime. Brandon Pierret (Family Life Academy) had a game-high 18 points (14 in the first half). Emmanuel Romero (Cardinal Hayes) 13 points, brought the energy on both ends of the floor.
EYL defeated NYC Wizards, 64-57. Riding off of the momentum from beating the defending champions last week, EYL put up another impressive performance led by the Mount Vernon HS duo of Zion Watkins 21 points and Kaiden Tyler 16 points. Big man Lawrence Jones led the Wizards with a game-high 23 points.
Team Tracey defeated Jungle Athletics, 40-38. Jungle Athletics who were playing their second game of the day were not trying to go home winless. For Team Tracey it was simple, weather the storm until Josh Charlot (Notre Dame Prep) arrived. Well Josh arrived midway through the first half and put the team on his back, finishing with a game-high 18 points.
KYDA defeated Positive Energy, 53-45. Defending champs KYDA really wanted this game, refusing to go 0-2 to start the season. Led by the backcourt of Amir Dockery (Eagle BK) and Tony Atkins (St John The Baptist) 12 points apiece, they fought off Positive Energy to earn the victory.
