🏀 Dyckman 35 is officially underway
14u and 16u Divisions tipped this weekend!

To the select few who’ve already subscribed, good afternoon! You are apart of history, with this being the first ever newsletter sent from The Dyckman Dispatch! Glad you are with us on this journey, let’s see how far we take this 🚀
The Dyckman Basketball Tournament is celebrating a very special anniversary this year, 35 YEARS! While the High School and College/Pro Divisions don’t start till July 7th, the younger guys in the Biddy (14 and under) and Junior (16 and under) Divisions gave us plenty to be excited about. Let’s break it down: 👇️
🏀 14U Recaps
One Promise defeated EYL, 42-34. We saw a huge improvement from both teams compared to their squads from last year. The game was tied at 18 at halftime, with One Promise breaking away late to get the win. Mohamed Magassouba (Promise Academy), a skilled big man led the way with 10 points for One Promise.
Wiz Kids defeated Yonkers Bulls, 52-23. Led by Cardinal Hayes incoming freshman Jaden Sumblin’s 23 points (15 in the first half) Wiz Kids came back to Dyckman with a vengeance after taking last summer off. They look to be serious competitors in the division. Ebrahim Jabbi was the only offense for Yonkers Bulls, finishing with 17 points.
LPAC defeated Courtcred, 42-25. LPAC brought the energy early, on the court and on the sidelines. Fueled by a couple dunks from JJ Smith (team-high 13 points) they rolled their opponent. Courtcred is in their second year in the tourney are looking to find their footing after nearly making playoffs last summer.
Top Boy Elite defeated NYC Wizards. In the most lopsided game of the day, Top Boy Elite beat the Wizards with a balanced attack. Everyone on their team got in scoring column, Tytan Roberts (Bishop Loughlin) led them with 8 points.
RENs United defeated We Got Next NJ, 47-25. Rens too came out with a balanced attack, getting everyone in the scoring column. But they did have a standout performance from sharpshooting Yadiel Arredondo (Mount St. Michaels) who finished with 16 points including a couple threes. WGNNJ is another team who’s a year older looking to make some noise after a developmental year last summer.
🏀 16U Recaps
Yonkers Rebels defeated RENs United, 61-58. Led by a big three of Chase Henry (Sacred Heart), Dabra Ki-oamieyeofori (Barack Obama School for Social Justice) and Zaylin Mullins who scored 20, 15 and 14 resepecitvely, Yonkers spoiled the RENs Dyckman debut. Rens did put up a fight, storming back after being down by ten at halftime and even capturing the lead late. John Klopfer led the RENs with 13 points.
G Elite defeated Positive Energy, 38-19. Led by Austin Heyer’s (Staples CT) 11 points, G Elite handled Positive Energy in a low scoring scrappy game.
EYL defeated KYDA, 56-48 in OT. In a final four rematch from last summer, this game lived up to the hype. Kaiden Tyler (Mount Vernon) who hit the big three to send the game into overtime stayed hot and scored 9 of his team-high 13 points in the overtime period. Defending champs KYDA only suited up five players for the contest, sharp shooting Chase Bray led them with 16 points.
Yonkers Rebels defeated Good NRGY, 46-44. After getting a win on Saturday Yonkers came back on Sunday to go 2-0 on the season. They only suited up five players against one time champions Good NRGY who are back in the tournament after a one year absence. Led by big man Dabra Ki-oamieyeofori’s 12 points, Yonkers squeezed by to get the win as Good NRGY missed the potential game-winner as time expired.
